Cinnaminson, New Jersey, September 8, 2023
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) first designated September as National Preparedness Month (NPM) back in 2004. NPM is meant to educate and encourage people from across the United States to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, institutions, and communities.
Disaster preparedness includes being ready for a wide range of possible events. Depending on where one lives, these could include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and earthquakes. They could also include pandemics; human-caused hazards like accidents, acts of violence, and terrorism; and even technology-related hazards such as power outages and equipment failures.
“A key component of being prepared, especially for businesses and institutions that need to remain operational, is having access to testing services, sampling supplies, test kits, building inspection tools, environmental monitoring instruments, and personal protective equipment (PPE),” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “These resources can be instrumental for safely identifying indoor or outdoor environmental hazards following a disaster, including chemical, radiological, or biological threats. At EMSL, our industrial hygiene, materials science, and environmental testing laboratories across the United States and Canada are proud to support the efforts of National Preparedness Month and to provide these services all year long.”
