July 9, 2026 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Presented by: Sergey Balashov, Ph.D.,
EMSL’s PCR Laboratory Director

Workshop Overview
Molecular Testing for Opportunistic Premise Plumbing Pathogens Monthly Webinar

Opportunistic Premise Plumbing Pathogens (OPPPs) are present in drinking water distribution systems and premise plumbing. They have certain characteristics like disinfectant resistance, growth at low organic content, adherence to pipe surfaces, biofilm formation, growth at low oxygen content, and high temperature- and desiccation-tolerance.

In this hour-long webinar, we will discuss the analytical services EMSL performs to identify the presence of OPPPs in a property. This will include a deeper look at the types of analysis and best practices for sampling a property. You will gain a better understanding of premise plumbing and why it is necessary to regularly test for Opportunist Premise Plumbing Pathogens.
