Title Lung Cancer Awareness Month Highlights Risks from Airborne Carcinogens
Introduction EMSL Analytical delivers testing services, sampling supplies, easy-to-use test kits, air monitoring instruments, and protective equipment to help detect and reduce exposure to carcinogens, respiratory irritants, allergens, and asthma triggers in the environment.

Cinnaminson, New Jersey, October 31, 2025

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both men and women.

Each November, Lung Cancer Awareness Month brings attention to the disease and the steps people can take to reduce their risk. While avoiding smoking and secondhand smoke is critical, other risk factors also contribute. A family history of lung cancer and exposure to substances such as asbestos, radon, arsenic, benzene, cadmium, ethylene oxide, diesel exhaust, and certain forms of silica and chromium can increase the likelihood of developing the disease. These exposures may occur at home, in the workplace, or in other environments.

“What we breathe and come into contact with in our homes, schools, and workplaces directly impacts our health,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Unfortunately, airborne hazards are present in many indoor environments and may contribute to respiratory conditions, including lung cancer. EMSL Analytical is proud to support Lung Cancer Awareness Month and encourages the public to learn more about airborne pollutants, respiratory health, and the benefits of indoor environmental testing.”

To support awareness and prevention, EMSL’s laboratories across North America provide comprehensive environmental and industrial hygiene testing services. The company also offers sampling supplies, user-friendly test kits, air monitoring instruments, and personal protective equipment (PPE). EMSL previously sponsored an educational video about Lung Cancer Awareness Month, which remains available at: https://youtu.be/LV7zwQiwaCQ
